Green silence. Red cliffs. A cave-fed spring that never stops flowing.
Step off the crowded trails and into a corner of Gauja National Park where forest still feels wild and water still tastes like something sacred. Over 25 kilometers, this loop connects red sandstone cliffs, cave tunnels, secret hillforts, and a lake famous in Latvian cinema – all without ever crossing paths with a tourist group.
It’s a route shaped by springs, carved by the river, and softened by moss. You’ll refill your bottle from legendary waters, sit by the stillness of Raiskums Lake, and walk through forest so hushed it feels almost ancient.
Distance: ~25 km
Best for: slow hikers and anyone needing to disappear for a while
Difficulty: technically easy – but 25km of forest quiet still counts as a full-day adventure

Getting there: The trail starts near Cēsis and is easily accessible by public transport. If you’re coming from Riga or elsewhere, we’ve got you — we’ll send detailed info after you sign up.
